The Indoor Market
Victorian images on this website and the indoor market are reproduced by kind permission of Ilfracombe Museum.
The Indoor Market at Ilfracombe has had a long history. Originally Southcombes established in 1840. A wonderful restaurant with silver service and afternoon tea dances. It has also been a dance and bingo hall and an Indoor Market. It has now reopened as an Indoor Market once again.
The Marketplace has been an important commercial and social centre for communities throughout history. The 21st Century is no exception, in fact the importance of meeting people face to face, having the chance to get together with friends and have a relaxing drink and a chat is probably more important in our high pressure lives. It also gives stallholders a chance to make a living and contributes to the local economy. Shoppers will have the chance to browse a collection of different items under one roof in an interesting and vibrant atmosphere.
Remember: house trained and well behaved dogs and children are welcome if supervised.
Open: Tues-Sat 10am - 4pm
